Nei Lak Shan Hike

Nei Lak Shan Hike

Autumn is the best hiking season ever. I usually do hiking with my family and friends every Sunday if possible. If you are lucky, you will see the beauty of nature, the clouds, the sunset glow and the famous miscanthus or silver grass in Autumn and Winter.

I have a wonderful and unforgettable hiking experience to share with you.

In mid-November, we hiked at Nei Lak Shan (Budda Mountain), NOT Nei Lak Shan Country Trail. It is the eighth highest peak in Hong Kong, towering North of Ngong Ping located on Lantau Island. The hike is along the Nei Lak Shan Country trail. It soon connects to the trail leading up to the summit. Passing a few stone stair steps, followed by some incline ascends, you’ll be able to reach the summit, which has a height of 751 meters.

You can take great pictures at the Nei Lak Shan Helipad, which is just adjacent to the summit point. The views include the Hong Kong Airport, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Sunset Peak. This is best experienced during fine and clear weather. We were lucky as the sea of clouds was in front of us.

We were on the high hill, where the Buddha was located in the middle of the sea of clouds and became smaller. It was “heaven”.

We were laughing and praising the hill to the point that we were too busy to take pictures to record that magic moment. Around an hour later, we chose to walk back to the Ngong Ping 360 Rescue Trail. Although it took many steps, it is the faster and safer way to bring you back to Ngong Ping Village station.

The sunset glow made the day perfect!
